ESTABLISHMENT OF MAIN MEDICAL CENTRE

The first primary health care Medical Centre was established on 4th January, 1999 in the vicinity of Dhok Choudhrian, a poor locality in Rawalpindi. A local philanthropist provided a newly constructed building rent free for this purpose. The Medical Centre functioned at this location for three years, and fully established its credibility amongst the poor people. During this period 148,590 patients were treated mostly free of cost; of these, 80% were women and children.

The Trust was successful in acquiring a plot measuring 944 square yards in Chaklala Scheme III on a 90 years lease for the Ministry of Defence, Government of Pakistan for construction of its Main Medical Centre and Head Office. Foundation stone for the building was laid on March 31, 2001. The building was completed in July, 2002. It has 42 room s with a covered area of approximately 22,600 square feet. Construction, furnishing and provision of medical equipment cost Rs. 17 million. The centre became fully functional at the new place in October 2002. In the year 2012, the second floor, comprising 18 rooms was added at a cost of Rs. 10 million. This floor will be used by the specialist. The building now has 60 rooms, with total covered area of approximately 30,000 square feet.

The building has been designed for approximately 500 out-door patients daily. It has 48 consultant rooms for doctors. It has a male and a female ward for patients requiring detention for short duration. Diagnostic facilities have been provided for the convenience of the patients.

The offices of the Trust have been established on the first floor of the building which included a spacious conference room for multi-purpose utilization. A large basement includes parking space, three consultation rooms, a small physiotherapy centre, a prayer room and an auditorium for literary pursuits and health related educational activities.
